Social Hour: 6:00pm – 7:00pm | Presentation starts at 7:00pm
If a tree falls in the woods and nobody is there to post on Twitter about it, did it really happen?
APACharlotte would like to invite you to join us for an evening to discuss a wide range of topics on social media and social networking. Online social networking websites like Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn are now becoming the leading marketing approaches for driving new and repeat business for companies large and small. There is a reason why even fast food chains like Bojangle’s have a Facebook and Twitter icon on their paper dining room placemats and in today’s advertising and marketing business world you need to know why!
Find out why commercial photographers like Chase Jarvis (@ChaseJarvis) are using Twitter to scout for locations, find models, build their own brand, and keep their names in front of their potential advertising contacts. And why wedding photographers are blogging and tweeting about their brides, grooms, and other wedding service providers. Why senior portrait photographers are developing facebook fan pages with thousands of high school aged kids. And why photojournalists are using social networking to provide real time reporting from field.
- Learn why entire social networking marketing positions are being created within ad agencies and major corporations.
- Learn how to use social networking sites to drive business to your door
- Discuss how to determine what to charge for images used in these forums
- Learn the difference between a regular facebook page and a fan page.
- Learn and understand the risks and pitfalls that could have adverse effects on your business
Our moderators for the evening will be Charlotte’s own Crystal Dempsey and Katey Dietz.
Many of you will recognize Crystal’s name from her two decade association as a writer and editor at the Charlotte Observer. As the publishing world changes, so has Crystal. She is now working primarily for herself as From the Hip Communications, a marketing company devoted to helping business and non-profits develop their own social networking pages and campaigns. Crystal Dempsey was most recently voted by Charlotte Magazine as the #1 person to follow on Twitter here in Charlotte.
Katey Dietz is a NASCAR lovin’, Shakespeare quoting, creative writer and social media consultant living in Huntersville, NC. Katey spent ten years in the accounting industry before falling in love with social media. She has recently turned her attention to assisting small businesses in developing and implementing social media plans, organizing tweet-ups for Social Media Club – Charlotte, she volunteers with various community organizations, and enjoys hiking all over the Carolinas with her dog Buckshot.
Our location for the evening will be the Morehead Room at the recently renovated and expanded Dilworth Neighborhood Grille located at 911 East Morehead Street in Charlotte which is at the intersections of East Morehead and South McDowell streets. The bar and kitchen at Dilworth Neighborhood Grille will be open and serving, so drinks and dinner will be available for purchase before, during, and well after our social hour and speaker. So come out and enjoy an evening with APACharlotte.
